Mongla Port Authority honours Interport Ship Agents (reported by NEW AGE)

The Mongla Port Authority honoured Interport Ship Agents Ltd for handling the highest numbers of merchant vessels at Mongla Port including highest number of merchant LPG vessels as shipping agent for the fiscal year 2020-21.

Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, managing director of Interport Ship Agents Ltd, received the crest of recognition on Wednesday on the Mongla Port Authority’s premises in port building yard, said a press release on Wednesday.

Mongla Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa handed over the award on the 71st foundation anniversary of Mongla Port.

Mohammad Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury, secretary of the shipping ministry, presided over the ceremony as chief guest. Mongla Port is the second largest seaport of Bangladesh and due to a tremendous boost in capacity and services in the recent years, at least 970 merchant vessels anchored at the port this year, which is the highest in 70 years.

During the ceremony, Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, pledged to reach the milestone of handling 3000 merchant vessels per year at Mongla Port by 2025.
